I
shot this image while doing some on-site work in Decatur, Alabama at a dock
along the Tennessee River. This steel cable was wound in a coil and had enough
grease and dirt on it to make an interesting texture that contrasted the symmetry
of the coil itself. I added a deep blue and magenta filters to add some interest
and color. I shot the image with a 85mm F/1.8 lens at it's widest opening to
give the narrow depth of field. If I had to reshoot this, I'd do it in black
and white on a large format camera.
