McAbee's Pigfitters have a long and proud tradition of excellence. The group started out as a collection of volunteers who visited McAbee's job locations to cook for the men who were (and in many cases, were not) working for us during the holidays. Eventually, this band of barbecue benevolent started entering competition in Tuscaloosa- particularly at the annual "Cityfest" cooking competition. Over the years, McAbee has become an iconic part of the local competition- even having a concrete slab poured and named after McAbee's former president, Harold McAbee. Harold died of cancer in 1997. We miss Harold, his leadership, friendship and passion for good food and dedicate the Pigfitters portion of the McAbee web site in his honor. To go back to the Pigfitters page, click here.

McAbee has earned the right to compete in some of the most prestigious cooking competitions in the south- including "Memphis in May". We've also won locally and regionally:
